A real terrace station under Lisbon Airport's approach path. It photographs each passing aircraft, measures noise and vibration, then publishes the best captures without human input.
LPPT's runway runs SSW–NNE. The wind decides which way traffic flows. With a north wind, aircraft approach from the south — descending over the Tejo and the city centre before touching down on RWY 03, crossing directly over my terrace on final approach. With a south wind, they take off on RWY 21, climbing towards the SSW, crossing the terrace before reaching the Tejo.
Lisbon Finals is an independent terrace station under the LPPT approach path. It observes aircraft passages, noise peaks, vibration pulses and air-quality signals from one fixed point. The point is not to dramatize the sky. It is to make the invisible parts of it visible.
Each detected aircraft triggers the full pipeline. A YOLO-trained model evaluates every frame and scores the photo from 1 to 5 — only the best make it to Instagram, without any human input. Two sensors capture what the eye can't see: an ADS1115 circuit measures the peak decibel level as the aircraft passes, and an MPU-6050 accelerometer records the vibration pulse transmitted through the building structure. One plane. Three data points.
Every aircraft that passes over this terrace burns Jet A-1 fuel — releasing ultrafine particles directly into the approach corridor. The PMS5003 laser particle counter measures PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 in real time, correlating each reading with the passing flight. A concrete answer to a question nobody else is asking here.
