99.0% of night alerts are arrivals — runway 02 approach path crosses Lisbon at 160m altitude. TAP Air Portugal operated 4,772 flights (50% of total), including 707 at night. Sound meter recalibrated June 22 — readings from June 10–22 were captured at trigger rather than peak, with a 100 dB ceiling; loud events in that window are likely underreported.

Correction note (27 Sept 2026). Airline attributions across the whole archive were audited against public aircraft registries and the callsigns each aircraft broadcast, and about 2,000 flights were reassigned to their real airline. The noise figures in this report are unaffected; only the airline rankings (and the airline table in the PDF) were computed before the fix. For example, TAP Air Portugal's count also included Azores Airlines flights, whose code was missing. Details: Archive, Data Quality tab.
Second correction (1 Oct 2026), June 2026 report. The peak noise values above about 105 dB recorded in June 2026 (highest: 124.1 dB) could not be verified. On 1 October 2026 we found that the sound meter occasionally records a single-reading electrical spike that is not an aircraft. In June 2026 the station did not yet keep the independent second-by-second log needed to check them, so these June 2026 peaks should be read as likely artefacts. The June 2026 averages are barely affected; a few June 2026 alerts may also be inflated. The June 2026 PDF is left unchanged.
