Tonight we shipped something genuinely worth documenting.
Started with a simple idea: a downloadable monthly PDF. Ended up building a full public noise observatory for Lisbon airport — live at lisbonfinals.github.io/noise-report.html.
The May 2026 numbers are striking. 10,290 flights over this terrace. Average 89.9 dB. 422 night violations. And the finding that matters: 100% of night violations are arrivals. Every single one. Runway 03 sends planes straight over the city at 160 meters, every night, while Lisbon sleeps.
Business jets are louder than commercial aircraft. The Gulfstream IV-SP tops the charts at 96.1 dB — beating every Airbus and Boeing in the dataset. Nobody talks about this.
The pipeline now runs end to end. Pi captures the flight. PDF generated. Uploaded to GitHub Pages. Gist updated. Public page refreshes. One command.
Microphone still capped at 100 dB. The real data comes when the outdoor station goes live in June. That is when this page becomes a genuine reference.
For now — May 2026 is documented. Permanently. Publicly. Flight by flight.
