While the planes kept rolling in over the terrace these past few days, we've been busy building something backstage: a brand new tool that lets us dig through the station's entire history — not just the last 30 days shown on the site.
The result: we can now ask questions we simply couldn't before. Which airline flies which aircraft type most often — and which pairing is the quietest, or the loudest? Which airline makes the most noise overnight? And, most fun of all: what are the best photos ever captured, sorted by aircraft or by airline?
One small win worth sharing: while digging through the data, we caught a real gem that had been mislabeled — a beautiful Portuguese Air Force KC-390 the system wasn't recognizing properly. Fixed. Its photo is now sitting right where it belongs. 🛬
We also switched on a sensor that had been quietly sitting unused: air quality. Fair warning — it's sensitive enough to pick up a neighbor's barbecue or a cigarette on a nearby terrace, so we won't be blaming every hazy reading on aircraft. But we can now track how it evolves hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month.
What's next? We keep refining all of this — and maybe, down the line, open part of it up to others: municipalities, researchers, curious minds. Nothing's set in stone yet, but the idea is taking shape.
